URACCAN authorities during the meeting with UNED and UNAH representatives.
This proposal is based on the priorities of the regional research agenda.
Three member universities of the Central American University Higher Council (CSUCA) are working on establishing a network of intercultural studies. These are: URACCAN, National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH) and the State Distance University (UNED), of Costa Rica. For this reason, authorities of these institutions met virtually this morning to consolidate this academic project.
The representation of URACCAN was composed of the Area of External Cooperation (MSc. Ilenia García and Dr. William Flores), the Directorate of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MSc. Victor Zúniga), and the Center for Multi-Ethnic Women's Studies (MSc. Nuria Gómez).
According to Dr. William Flores, of External Cooperation, this project responds to the CSUCA call to organize Central American networks of exchange and scientific collaboration. Hence, the purpose of the interuniversity meeting is to "establish a network of intercultural studies, which will be a space for concertation on the epistemological and contextual practices of interculturality in higher education institutions".
This strategic network will promote research and innovation, and link master's and doctoral programs to interuniversity and interscientific work with a gender intercultural perspective. This proposal also entails academic exchanges and online training exchanges, taking into account the pandemic context and depending on the conjunctural circumstances.
Dr. Flores added that this network will bring to life the UNESCO Chair: Wisdoms and Knowledge of Peoples, which is related to URACCAN's project and institutional perspectives.
To realize this important project, the three areas responsible for its consolidation will work in coordination with the Institute of Intercultural Communication (ICI-URACCAN) to give way to the communicative and informative aspects, through audiovisual productions and design of proposals for dissemination and academic dissemination in the different web portals and specialized journals.
