Reading comprehension in high school students

In order to analyze the factors that affect the development of reading comprehension in students of the ninth year "A" of the Institute October 30 morning modality of the first semester 2017, the defense of monographic thesis was carried out in URACCAN Bluefields enclosure.

The Bachelors Reyna Fajardo Palacio and Johana Rodríguez, of the fifth year of the bachelor's degree in Education Sciences with mention in Spanish, of the URACCAN, at their university campus Bluefields, presented this project, in order to contribute to the communities in the themes of their career.

The study has a qualitative and cross-cutting approach, the presentation of the graphs is descriptive since a method was used that allowed analytically describing the findings found objectively, allowing interpretation and contextualization with the environment.

The results reflect that students have difficulty interpreting a reading, so they only read literally, this, because few recreational activities are performed, related to the exercise of reading by teachers.

URACCAN and its university community have been proposed and continues to advance in processes of accompaniment and rapprochement with indigenous peoples, Afro-descendants and mestizos of the Caribbean Coast, through the creation and recreation of knowledge, knowledge and practices, as well as the exercise of intercultural communication, accompanying processes and interculturalization of Education with relevance.
