Boosting collaborative work between universities
Delegated by the excellent rector of URACCAN, Dr. Alta Hooker, the director of the Institutional Information and Communication Technology System (SITICI), MSc. Marlon Antonio Peralta participated this October 7 in an important meeting convened by MetaRed, a collaborative project made up of Ibero-American universities, public and private, with the aim of sharing, discussing and reflecting on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the higher educational landscape. The invitation was especially extended to Dr. Hooker from the Central American University Higher Council (CSUCA).
According to Master Peralta, the meeting addressed the launch of MetaRed Central America and the Caribbean, to form working groups, national meetings, projection of webinars on ICT trends for universities, among other activities, involving educational institutions, state institutions, international organizations, companies and corporations that develop their work in the technological field.
The meeting also raised the need to bring in more URACCAN officials to join MetaRed and participate in the forthcoming collaborative work and inter-university exchange sessions. In this sense, it is planned to incorporate in this network of networks of TICs, the members of SITICI from all URACCAN enclosures.
MetaRed hopes to enhance inter-university collaborative work, as well as transform the institutional educational and operational model from technology, strengthening partnerships and cooperation for them. Somehow, URACCAN, from SITICI and itself through its University Management System (SGU), has been strengthening and optimizing institutional work, as well as technological management for the Caribbean region, through strategic alliances with key players.
