Promoting science and technology through student recruitment processes
As part of the planned activities for the 2020 Territorial Exposciences to be carried out on October 15, URACCAN New Guinea is receiving the visit of fifth-year students from the schools of the municipality. Through guided tours, the authorities of the venue and the coordination of careers present them with their respective academic offers.
The objective of guided tours is to promote interest in science and technology among the student population, allowing young people access to the knowledge, solutions and innovations that are being generated in human talent-forming instances. In this sense, the vice-chancellor of the compound, PhD. Eugenio López, gave students the words of welcome, inviting them to continue their studies and feel since URACCAN is their home.
Teacher Consuelo Blandón, academic secretary of the campus, says that "the doors of URACCAN are open to serve all students of the fifth year of high school, with the aim of showing them who we are as URACCAN, what are the virtues we have, how they can be prepared here professionally". According to Blandón, this activity also responds to the process of student recruitment that year after year promotes this institution.
Kelvin Javier Báez, head of tourism at the Municipal Mayor's Office, also argued that "these guided tours continue the 2020 Territorial Exposciences, since the expo will also present the offer, but also the projects themselves". Báez argues that "this is a work that is achieved from the harmonious communion between the institutions of the State, where universities and colleges of the municipality participate".
According to Marina Mendoza Zeledón, student of the fifth year of the Rubén Darío institute, "being here allows us to know more about the offer, benefits per career, of the facilities, of the equipment of the university; know their coordinations and focus on the career we want."
She, who is clear that her desire is to study Civil Engineering, says that "I will study it in URACCAN, because here the offer is good and it is good because our municipality is moving forward more and more".
